rDNA 40 goes bang....

    Just saw this..
    Always scary what can happen when we're vapin guys
    No idea why this happened but VS will replace it they say

    Seems like it didn't do a lot of damage but obviously something you don't want to happen to you.
    Looks like the battery was in the wrong way round. Did the protection save the chip? :D

    your right, looking at the pics the battery was the wrong way round, this should not have happened at all, the chip should have shut down.

    Be interesting to see is Evolv do a call back on all chips as like you say that could be the problem, the battery went in the wrong way round....
    Glad I never tested that on my zna to see if it worked :beer:

    That looks like the recesses at the positive terminal on the side on the vented battery so assuming the positive is at the top with the 510 then it was in correctly. Looks more like a hard short to me not stopped by the chip. Only a guess though. Never looked at the rDNA chip specs so really no idea.

    The positive for the rDNA is at the bottom where the screen is, opposite to other mods...
