How many coils of the twisted are you using Panga? And what ohms are you aiming for?

I had some Clapton I made earlier (28AWG wrapped with .4x.1 ribbon) lying around, so I washed out one of my Kayfuns and threw it in there, 6/5 wraps on a 7/64ths drill bit. Once it settled in it came out to .98 ohms. I did a side-by-side with my standard 28AWG 9 wrap microcoil on a 2mm bit, same juice, same wattage (VS DNA-30), and the Clapton is giving me a deeper flavor. No real difference in vapor, and I'm not going to say more flavor, it just seems a bit deeper. The cost is it takes a bit to get heated up fully because of the extra mass. If I do it again I'll try to squeeze 2 more wraps in there, the DNA can't step down and 13 watts is a bit too high for my tastes, especially at 18mg.

I can't really remember but prob 8 coils of twisted 28AG is about 1.0 Ohms. Which works well. Never had a good build on K < 0.8 ohms.

In other news, my Stillare from Big arrived this afternoon. It's very very good if you like hard-hitters. First nic buzz I've had in about 6 months. I literally had to sit down. I think PommyB and I got the last 2 but I'm sure he'll have them back in stock. Love the way the air-slots line up exactly with the coil.

Dual 25AG. 0.4 ohms. Airholes fully open. Hits like the world's biggest freight train.

hey ryan, you dont twist that wire yoursel, you bought it already twisted?
    if so where? how much?

i just figured how tricky that one is, to have the coils directly above the screws

Ryan, where would you recomend the use of the clapton, I normaly vape 10 watts with a Kayfun and have just started Sub ohm with a Storm A, is this only a high watt build?

I'm guessing a drill or such gets employed as the twister.

still not ready to do any wild builds myself but enjoy reading about them here. Nice honest commentary as well

Yes, you'll need either a drill or an inhuman amount of patience to make a Clapton coil. It isn't that hard, it just takes time and practice.

It goes great in the Storm-A, and is pretty good in the Kayfun, but it really does need high watts to get the most out of it. I usually vape my Kayfun at 8-9 watts, so I'm going to try to make one with a 30AWG core at some point to try to get the ohms up.

I don't have a drill so I used this simple method to twist 28g Kanthal with perfect results.

Unfortunately I don't think that will work for Clapton coils. You're wrapping one wire around another, rather than just twisting them together.

    Shucks! But it's still a simple way to twist 28g wire . . . . eh Ryan?

I went to one shop and the monkey behind the counter told me that when making dual coils, the positive ends weren't supposed to be touching each other. So since then when I make dual coils (like on the 3D) I put one end on one side of the screw and the other end of the wire on the other side of the screw. Monumental pain in the ass. Having them touch each other would make things easier.

Positive leads can touch. Negative leads can touch. If they couldn't, a parallel coil would be impossible.

Parallel Twisted on FT Trident clone. I think its 28AG but tbh its just a bit of twisted wire I found in my vape drawer this evening so it may be 30AG. 0.38 ohms. How is the vape: extremely dense and smooth, pretty good flavor, quite hot.

Update: after vaping this for an hour I'm not sure its particularly good. Vapor is v good but flavor is a bit iffy. Have a feeling that it cannot wick fast enough to get juice to the middle therefore it has an over-heated taste.

New build today, tried to build a clapton but my drill is not slow enugh and my gitar wire broke, have to get a real one and not one from the kids toy lol. So settled for a twisted pair of 26g wire. Lots of surface area so this coil cools slowly and reheats quick Masses of vapor and flavor at 40 Watts.
