Stuck in Customs - Lak Si Mail Center

I am just wondering.
What happens if you live all the way up north? Will they send it first north or do you also have to go to the mail center in Lak Si, which is almost impossible because of the distance. The only (EMS) mail center I know about is 200 kilometers from where I live. The other mail centers I can never find on the tracking number here in Thailand.

 

Again, just letting you know my experiences.

I don't think it would be Lak Si, as far as I know Lak Si is only the hub for downtown Bangkok, the main facility in Bangkok is over near Immigration. There is some issues with clearing customs at the port from further areas of Thailand, something where you have to sign a bunch of paperwork and mail them your passport. Not really sure the deal with that though, I've always lived in Bangkok.

 

Went down to the mail center. As I expected my package was flagged and in reality should have been confiscated. They were looking up the Vaporshark website right there and saying that it was not allowed. But for help from my friend it was as good as gone. Beware vaping friends.

Not sure what this means. It was confiscated? It's not allowed but they gave it to you anyway? Why? A persuasive argument from your friend? A fine or bribe? While your friend distracted him you took the box and ran out the door? What's the details Cabba?

 

I had a contact inside and wanted a bribe but quoted me 19000THB. Got them down to 16000THB. I refused to pay (the order was only worth 7000THB).

Ya, that bribe was too much. I met the guy about a year ago when I was having an order from Halo confiscated. He talked to my driver that if I ever have a problem like that, I should let him know.
I got it out. Thanks to the pity of the officer, 2000THB, customs fee and most of all my female Thai friend that did all the talking while I stayed clear.
10/10 times a farang would not get out of that place with the package.

Yes my friend got it out for me, but I was very very lucky. I will never make the mistake of throwing in a bottle of juice when I order a mod.

a few weeks ago I received 2 hana clones via dhl--told them it was a vaporizer and paid a total of 1350 baht. I would go there and tell them you have asthma and need this special vaporizer--or something like that

 

Wow. Just wow. Thx for sharing this. So, if you had not included the juice... things would've gone smoothly?

 

I went through the "just tell them" mindset.
- just tell them there's no nicotine in the liquid
- just tell them the liquid is flavoring/perfume
- just tell them the mod is a computer accessory/power source
- Just tell them the atomizer parts are for a model airplane
- just tell them it's a medical device
- just tell them ....
It's a different story when you're there at the counter, the officer is googling Vaporshark, and pushes her screen over to show you the Vaporshark home page. Busted!!
About the worst thing that you can say is that it's medical/medicine related, they'll ask you if you have a permit to import a medical device and it's as good as gone.
Only options I see are
- pay a bribe if you can and it's not too much
- get a local person to deal with it, plead, lie
- hope you get lazy officer that is late for lunch
The mistake I made was ordering a bottle of eliquid with the mod. The technique that I will use from how on is ordering hardware on its own. Juice on its own (if it gets caught it's not such a huge deal). I believe the liquid is what made them stop the order in the first place. I could be wrong.
Believe you me, Thai customs is confiscating ecigarettes there every day. They are wiser to this whole thing than most of us think.

Ya that was a big issue. I definitely will be more careful going forward. It's weird because I've made liquid orders (6x30mL bottles several times now) and they arrive without issue.
