1. Welcome to Thailand Vapers, an English language forum for members in Thailand and the rest of Asia to talk about vaping.
Commonly referred to as e-cigarettes, vaping is really about the use of personal vaporizers (mods) and atomizers (tanks, clearos, RBAs, RDAs, RTAs) filled with e-liquid.

I live in Khonkaen and for some reason my latest package cleared customs in Bangkok airport then was sent to Nong khai. This is another reagonal customs center, probably the nearest to me.

Thats promising, maybe i should try to get mine out from Nong Khai, 5 attas ans 5 mods. I wouldnt mind paying a true persentage as theres no liquid in the package and Im not sure if they really know the true standing of the law on this.

Thanks for sharing the details of your story Cabba.

    Got a few questions.

How was it shipped? (DHL, FedEx, UPS, Priority Mail) ?

What was the description on the "Customs Declaration" attached to the outside of the package? (Electronic device, e-cigarette, e-liquid, flavoring) ?

What was the "value" on the customs declaration?

Was the package already opened when you arrived at the Customs office?

Were you given the option of having the package returned to the vendor?

    Thanks.

The Thailand Customs website has nothing addressing e-cigarette's. It only addresses tobacco products. However I wouldn't advise trying to argue that point with a customs officer.

I've done google searches for what the actual Thai law states on e-cigarettes and can find nothing official. The closest thing I've been able to find is newspaper article with a police officer quote saying that their illegal.

I suggest u that if someone ask u what is it , not tell the item is the ecig parts
U can answer this is powerbank or something like that
If u declare as ecig u will not get it
but it u declare as electronic device u will pay tax 10-30% depends on the officer

Same thing happen to me 2 weeks ago !
I had no liquids , but some mods, batteries and tanks all what i needed :) , shipped by USPS (EMS) from the states.
The declaration said electronic parts value 68$ (to high), laksi sent me a letter to come and pick up the shipment , saying goods need to be declared.
I went to the post office and they opened up the box and then they calculated that i needed to pay 800 baht tax , i paid them , went home with my gear with a big smile !
Don't worry , just go there with some money in your pocket , be nice and don't say anything unless they ask , don't forget you are brining in electric parts for your go kart or was it your hair drier !

OP: in your experience, did the tracking look something like this (see attached)? Or whoever can chime in, when you had to go to Lak Si did the last entry in tracking read, "Dispatch"? Was hoping "dispatch" meant dispatching, not "holding for whatever reason" but... "ain't it a pity... the way you feel ain't no big deal"
Package sent China Post EMS, contains 1 item: mech mod.

I think you're in the clear. Should expect that it will go to "out for delivery" soon.

Well miracls do happen, 5 hour round trip to Nong Khai customs and returned with my 10 items and didnt pay tax. The customs officer could not understand what they where, I explaned that they where battery tubes and that the heads where electronic devices to make vapour. The declared value was only 48usd and my invoice matched that. after he googled a stingray mod he reaslised that you can buy them for 25usd and said i would only have to pay tax on the five mods. I explaned that I had purchesed them from the copy manufacture in china and that the invouce was correct. It was getting close to lunch and he also couldnt decide on which tax code they should have. Eventualy after he decided the tax on the value of 48usd was not very much he alowed me to go without paying tax, but did tell my wife that I should not order again as they dont understand what it is I have bought.
