Hey Scratchy: The 28g Ti I've been getting has lots of crud on it also. Nothing like the cleanliness of the Ni200 at all. Now, I unwind an arm's length of Ti, chuck it up in the drill and vise-grips on the other end, twist and snap like 2 or 3 times, then thoroughly clean it with rubbing alcohol and tissue paper, then rise with tap water and dry with fresh tissue paper. Using cotton for cleaning doesn't cut it. Then, I'll cut up the long strand into lengths sufficient for 2.5mm 9-wrap spaced coils and keep them in a bag so I don't have to get out the drill every time I re-coil my decks. I turn the wattage/joules down to 10 and heat and blow over the coils just to finish the prep and be sure there nothing remaining, crud-wise, basically until there's neither smoke nor odor coming from the warmed coils.

Agreed. It's like a brain-speed test to nail your targeted wattage in one go. YiHi has this managed way better as well. But hey, there are always compromises somewhere in any design... Still, she's still a sun up to bedtime performer and that's kick ass to me.

 

Update: Changed my Wh number to 12.21 and it went down to 1% for battery remaining power reading before dying. Nice. About 1,100 mAh as opposed to the 1,300 mAh advertised.
