As I was repairing my house's pvc, I thought of you. How about using "Teflon thread seal tape"? I presume that it's safe since Teflon coating is being used as one of the materials for nonstick frying pan. Maybe another member can confirm or disagree?? Tell me If you are still interested in pursuing this method, cuz I have done some picture walk-through.

Yes. Same thing. From any hardware store. Buy I only found good quality ones from homepro.

    (1) get Teflon tape with width 12mm or smaller. Cut about 10cm.
    (2) fold it into width 6mm.
    (3) wrap 2 rounds on the thread, cut the excess. Gently tuck in both top and bottom then put back the o ring.
    (4) fill your tank just enough to test it.

Do let us know how it turns out.
    Good luck

Will I have to do this every time I refill the tank?

Mate, You got me there... I guess we are not supposed to unscrew a faucets after it has stopped leaking ya.

From my personal experience with plumbing, each taped will last only twice unscrewing process. Again good quality of Teflon tape is important. Clear all previous tape on thread prior to applying new one is advisable too.

    Good luck.
