Next time on the Coil Build. maybe try to take the Wires around the Screw the other way around. that would make the build more stable. (also gives you that Little extra Surface area.) IMO. and it should also help to keep the coil position nice and centered. Coil 1.jpg

Cheers Stefan, thanks for the suggestion. I built it this way the first time because the screws tighten down clockwise in the photo...figured I might have trouble if the lead wires were being pushed out when the screws were tightened. I'll give this a try on the next build.

To be honest I don't even think about it when I screw it on with all the coils I have done in the past!

Now I will certainly look to do it the right way!

    Very helpfull indeed!:very good:

Hahaha!!!!! Agreed some of the coil builds really over the top for practical use and maintenance and no significant benefit to the quality of the vape. At least that's been my experience with trying some of the intricate ones. Figure I am not going to be sitting there looking at them when I vape so there's not much point. However, I do like the asthetics of complex builds and can understand where some who like to tinker and build can really get into making them.

Siam that build looks really pro to me.

So if I want to start on RBA's what do u guys recommend as something easy to start with.

I am HOPELESS at anything diy so something really practical and simple would be best suited.

What to get from FT ??

Patience. A lot of it ^^

More seriously doing a micro coil is very easy on a simple RDA like the Magma. You'll probably miss the forst two but that's part of it. And since it takes 5min to build, it's not like you have to book a whole day off to do so.

I would advise you this :

    - 30 or 28ga Kanthal (i like the 28 the best imho)
    - a Magma, the best RDA to start building, again, imho
    - rayon or Japanese Cotton

That is it. If you use a mech mod only, get yourself a ohms reader. First lesson, NEVER vape if you don't know what resistance you have. NEVER. Like..NEVER.

Then the usual suspect, screwdrivers for the coil wrapping, scissors and else.

If you ever build on a RTA, it is exactly the same thing.

AND... Take picture to share with us :)

Just to add to what Tibo said, make sure your batteries AMP limits can accommodate the amp draw of your setup. You can check using using any one of a number of online ohms law calculators. Here's my favorite that I think V recommended a long time ago...it has other tools as well. Links to tools across top of Page: Steam Engine | free vaping calculators

    My pleasure :)

When I started, I found the wicking part to be the hardest. Too loose and you get immediate dry hit, too tight and the juice won't wick properly and boom..dry hit.

Plus depending on the cotton you use, you will have to wick differently.

But fear not, as being a RDA, you just remove the wick and put another one, you won't waste any juice :)

Building a coil.... omg fear factor 10... now reduced to 8.

Im SO rubbish doing anything requiring a screwdriver.

But Ill be on the lookout for a Magma.

Perhaps a coil workshop could be part of the next vape meet?
