Ok, just rebuilt my "silver box "clone model (same as Rick's) from scratch with 2.4 mm id coil and using the same wicking config as before. This time with the coil I raised it just slightly higher than I had before. I used steps 5 through 10 without AFC ring installed but after filling (to approx 90%) my finger slipped off drip tip top just before screwing it all the way in. I also did not invert the tank when closing down the drip tip all the way. Result? Not a single drop of juice leaking. Several variables at play and too early to tell if leaking is just something more prone to happen with the Cigreen model I have but unlike last attempt with that model, this silver box one had no issues this time around.

Next attempt for the Cigreen will be to close down the AFC ring, cover drip tip and invert tank before screwing that the rest of the way down. If it leaks, I will be adding a small o-ring to the chimney section just below the threading and try again using standard steps like described above without AFC ring.
    **Updated**
Rebuilt the Cigreen with same coil config as mentioned above. Used steps 5-10 with AFC ring completely closed. I used a soft refill bottle and pace of fill was fast up to 90%...faster than my other fills. I rotated the top section covering the fill holes and then flipped the atty over before closing down the drip tip all the way...was able to keep my finger on drip tip top the whole time. Turned it back over and removed the AFC ring and NO leaking at all. Maybe it was how fast I filled it, maybe the AFC ring being closed and drip tip covered then inverting....I don't know but this time success.

I have been using this tank quite a lot this week. Probably 50-60% of the time. I still haven't had to refill it from when I took the previous picture and I have just reached the beginning of the taper on the chimney. lol

I had VaporMist's R?4 in there and could really taste the tobacco whereas in my Tobh I couldn't really taste the tobacco at all although I did prefer the taste of it in the Tobh.
Now I have Joyetech RY4 in there which is really harsh in the Tobh but a much nicer vape in the Erlkonigin. Again I can taste the tobacco much clearer.

Still temperamental though, but as long as I keep my draws to around 3.7s I don't get a burned taste :D

Hi Rick. I bet you are already aware of this potential cause but several folks in the ECF threads have pointed out that burned taste/dry hits are usually from too much wick in the channels or some other wicking inefficiency. I only had one build that one night gave me a couple dry hits but then rebuilt and now several rebuilds later between a couple models and I've never had one since, even without the AFC ring installed. I'm sure you'll get her sorted! I have another clone model coming so once I have that one setup I'll share my experiences.

Yeah, no doubt user error but I have literally no wick in the channels.

I'm just about to rebuild and change juice flavour. I'll upload some pics

OK I didn't take any pictures but I wicked it the same as I posted before, I didn't bother with the wick ring or the AFC ring and filled it straight to the top with Yaeliq Sabre Blood (The Erlkonigin seems to be my dedicated tank for juices I don't really care for).

    Yep, leakage.

But only initially, as soon as I wiped it up and blew inside that was it.

    28ga, 3mm, 6 wraps for 1.5 Ohms @13w and vaping fine atm.

I said about burned hits before but there was never many, they were very occasional and usually resulted in me drawing until I got them just to see how it was wicking :)

Anyway, if we meet on Saturday you can all tell me how shit it is. Although I have never had a go on somebody else's RBA (I'm secretly quite excited) I imagine it could be similar to roll ups (or whatever) in that you prefer your own to somebody elses no matter how bad yours may actually be....?
    **Updated**
*Oh, I did wick this time with Japanese cotton as a 3mm of Rayon required to much trimming.

Is it just me or have all of these been completely removed from FT, apart from the replacement tanks?

Yes it happens from time to time, they get threatened legally by a company, then they pull the stuff then a few days or so later the stuff comes back under a new name
Same happened with the Aspire tanks a few months back....
Didn't take them long to get them back up.....

    Take down notice apparently..

3mm diameter coil really does improve wicking considerably. Think I may have this one nailed now. Instead of it dictating to me how I vape, I am now wearing the trousers.

As for filling the tank up completely on a new build, I think it's needs to be filled partially (maybe half way), vaped for a bit and then filled to the top?

    Nano has landed

20.5mm so I doubt parts will be interchangeable with my 20.7mm version, apart from the drip tip etc.

Just wanted to quickly share how pleased I am with the green and white box version (with steel tank and drip-tip adapter) that I got from FT recently. No leaks on my first build (used AFC ring and closed it down and filled quickly) and it's quieter than the cigreen version. It included all the o-rings but like my first silver box version the two fill hole o-rings can be slipped off easily so some care and notice should be taken when cleaning and dealing with that ring section when dis-assembled. Vapes great!

I was really bummed last week that my Erlkonigin build was such a failure with its'
continuous leaking. I tried half a dozen different wicking methods without success and in fact with each new way I tried, the leaking problem only got worse. lol
Luckily my Rose V2 arrived the next day so I was able to put aside my frustrations with the Queen to try again at a later time.

Today I gave the Erlkonigin another shot and it looks like I got it right this time!
I used rayon to wick it and split the ends, the bottom half of the rayon to fill the channels and left the top half above without any trimming. I decided not to use that 'silver ring thingy' and I screwed the chimney down tight and also did as Konvict suggested, filled the tank only 20% to start.

Not a single drop of leakage! This Erlkonigin clone has gone from being a bitch to become a Princess and I'm loving the great flavor and smooth vape she's putting out for me now.

    Great to hear that PattsV!

If you get the hang of it she's a great vape!

    She just needs some loving!

Okay, I've been following this thread pretty closely and am thinking about picking up the clone from Big....what's the final consensus, is it a worthy purchase?

Imho it is most definitely a very worthy purchase! Once you get it wicked correctly it's a dream to vape. The Erlk & the Rose deliver the best flavor I've got from an RBA with good vapor production as well.
    I love it
