1. Welcome to Thailand Vapers, an English language forum for members in Thailand and the rest of Asia to talk about vaping.
Commonly referred to as e-cigarettes, vaping is really about the use of personal vaporizers (mods) and atomizers (tanks, clearos, RBAs, RDAs, RTAs) filled with e-liquid.

AH...OK...have that video. Sorry....didn't recognize the name. :)

According to ryanmacl it will work, so i just need to find out what the diameter measurement needs to be and I'll be good to go...I think. :)

Well...all the research I've done suggests silica is easier to work with...and the instructional videos for both methods clearly demonstrates that silica is much easier. The nice thing is, if silica does not work I already have a new and unopened bag of sterile cotton. Silica I don't have, so it is coming with the Kayfun.

Yes...and there is a needle or paper clip or something similar in between the two strands, while wrapping the coil, so that has to be factored in.

So, if you're wrapping the coil around the silica (+ needle), then I guess you're not going to have much control over the exact diameter of your coil. Gonna be guess work I think. I see now that is where un-wrapping the coil might be necessary. Glad to hear you've got the cotton as backup.

When i wrap micro coils, there are usually hotspots and un-even glowing at first until I heat and pinch with the tweezers. I wonder how people get around this when wrapping around silica...

As for cotton, it definitely takes some experimentation to get the wicks right. When I started out, I found making coils to be a lot less troublesome than making wicks. If you do end up moving on to microcoils with cotton wicks, I'd recommend getting a cheap RDA to practice on. Getting the wicks right takes practice and with an RDA it's a lot quicker to try a new wick than it is with a RBA.

The instructional video I plan to work from does not use a blow torch or any heat in the coil building process.
