Well, pretty clean yeah but pretty occupied as well. There would have been an iPhone in it too but I picked it up to take the picture. :)

The other corner is almost a mirror image but worse...more mods and attys as well as the other miscellaneous stuff like the rayon piece, scissors etc. Those latter items end up there because next to my desk on that side is a crude little work area for all things vaping.

LOL!!! Pretty much the same though mine not quite as big a diameter. Maybe these would be better, hmm...

How specific to the V4 is this method?
    i.e. compared to the 3.1
    Are there any intrinsic differences?

I've used mostly the same method across several different attys that have decks similar to the Kayfun style. I did basically the same with the 3.1. Main thing is that it is with rayon and I am reducing wick size and trying to promote better wicking of juice.

Not to say that rayon is the absolute best or this applies only to rayon. I just usually prefer it over cotton.

Yes--I was going to ask about the 3.1--I have one that is yet to be built on--just never got round to it--but, I might just try this method.

What gauge of Kanthal is that? it looks like 28, or even 26??

It's either 27 or 28. Cannot recall. 3 mm ID might be a little big for the kayfun 3.1 but I'm not sure as it has been probably 8 or 9 months since I used and built on one and I was usually going with 2.0 or 2.4 mm ID with that version.

In looking at my pics again in this thread, I see I was a little conservative with my side cuts, especially when using a 3 mm ID coil. Usually cut away say another 10% to 20% from the sides. If a smaller ID there wouldn't be as much wick tail volume so it's all proportionate I guess.

Another option that I did not try often but had decent success with is cutting some away off the top of the wick as opposed to the bottom.

As you know, there are many different ways to approach wicking that could work well. Experimenting might yield you something better than what I do. If so, please do share!
