1. Welcome to Thailand Vapers, an English language forum for members in Thailand and the rest of Asia to talk about vaping.
Commonly referred to as e-cigarettes, vaping is really about the use of personal vaporizers (mods) and atomizers (tanks, clearos, RBAs, RDAs, RTAs) filled with e-liquid.

Have you tried changing the coil? You could also soak the old coil in vodka overnight, rinse with hot water, let air dry and give it another try...

I've tried 4 so far. All give 2.2 or 2.3 ohm on the evo-v v3. I tried as show on a youtube video to wash one in water and dry burning it, but that resulted in a strong burnt taste. I can try alcohol, but they should just work out of the box...

You're right, they should just work. I've got 9 Nauts & N-Minis and I've never experienced this. I did find that you have to vape them at 10-12watts to get the most out of them. For me, their sweet spot is 10.5-11 watts (or abt 4.7 volts).

I wouldn't worry too much about the ohms readings you're getting. That could be the inaccuracy in the mod. Mine come in around 2-2.1 ohms...a little less when new...a little more after a month of use.

This has got me really puzzled...only thing I can think of is that you got a bad batch of coils. But if you experienced the same thing with the coils that came with the N-Mini & the replacement coils you bought, that becomes more unlikely.

    Me too...

What kind/brand of juices are you using?
    **Updated**
Did you ever use boiling hot water to clean it, and rub it with a soft toothbrush with dishwashing liquid?

Still thinking about this...love a good puzzle :chinrub:
What juice(s) were you using in this rig? What type of clearo or tank were the juices in? Did you get any type of metallic taste then? The only way to determine if you've got a bad Nautilus or a bad coils is to have something else to compare it to using the same juice and power settings, preferably another Nautilus.

There is another possibility. Since you've just stopped smoking, it may be that your taste buds are still recovering from years of the stinkies and are somehow causing this metallic taste. Don't know if you were a heavy smoker or for how long, but when I quit, I used straight menthol juice for the first couple of months until my taste buds came back. I did try other juices during that time and found a few I liked, but after vaping for a few months, I went back and retried some of them again. I was surprised to find that most tasted completely different the second time around.

The first coil I used performed ok for about 2 days, I figured, but then it was the first time I ever tried a proper rig. After the metallic taste I tried a second atomizer, which was also ok at the beginning, but the second day even a friend who uses a cheaper ego didn't like the strong metallic taste out of mine.
3rd atomizer was bad straight away, but when I switched to the 4th I figured it could be the metal dripper, so I put some black electrical tape around it, set it at 10-11 watts and now the taste is great! At least yesterday and today that is.

My dads was the cigarette look a like type. Very very different taste. Right now i'm smoking RY4 50/50 from Joyetech. I tried a Mango from almar-smokers, and Honey, cappucino and banana chocolate at 70/30 from feellife and all except the RY4 didn't taste that well.

I never was a real heavy smoker. Smoked about 6-7 roll ups a day. But since i have the nautilus it went a bit up..

I guess i was just plain unlucky having 3 defective atomizers in a row. As the 2nd atomizer was so strong in metallic taste it couldn't have been the dripper. My whole mouth was al tingly of the metal.

Any tips on good liquid brands? Any favorite tastes?
I also tried mixing some with some pure vegetable glycerol but that didn't do any good.
And thanks for all the help so far!

Also, does anyone know where to buy a glass/pyrex or even plastic dripper?

@Siam Diesel, how come you have 9 Nauts?! Need they be replaced in due time?

I'm having the same problem at the moment, 2 (last) coils in a row. Metallic taste appears at 9.0W and up...

    Gonna have to rebuild !

1 was in the box with the Nautilus, 1 was a gracious gift from Siam Diesel.

I actually figured that the metallic taste does not last if you push it a bit... After about 20 puffs, it start to disappear and you can raise the watts.

I've never had the metallic taste problem when changing coils so I'm still puzzled by this. If you're using a metal drip tip, maybe try changing to a delrin (plastic) or ceramic one (Big is your friend).

There are a couple of things I always do when changing coils - - first, I prime the new coil from the top with 2-3 drops of juice, then I let it sit for at least 15-30 minutes to allow the juice to soak into the wick. Next, I take 4 hits at 8.5 watts, then another 4 hits at 9.5 watts before turning my mod up to 10.5 watts (which is my sweet spot). This method of breaking in a new coil is from @PattsVaper (cheers mate), and it works for me, too. As always, YMMV.

Missed this in the run up to Christmas...sorry. I now have 10 Nauts and use them all for juices that I vape on a daily basis. My fleet :D has been in service since August and the only thing I've had to replace are coils (and glass tanks...they don't like hitting the ground very much). A complete suite of spare parts is available at aspirecig.com so I expect them to remain usable for the foreseeable future.

At the moment I am also in the process to buy a fleet of them for all the GLV juices that I really like...each flavor will get its own atty, the rest I will use on RBA's so I can swap the wick and juices out whenever I want..
