It was a non-twisted regular coil. Why don't you try yourself? We can learn from you, too.

Yeah, im kind of short on wire these days.. Waiting for 10 meter Nicrome n80 from China.. Got the evic vtc mini and OBS tank so i got a lot of DIY coming up. Been twisting wire on srewdrivers for a month. But im considering buying the Coils master kit.. All those driffrent kinds of wire with diffrent ID makes it a bit comfusing wraping coils. Speaially when you dont know how think the wire is.

Specially when you don't know how thick the wire is.

If you get the eVic VTC Mini make sure you try the TCR mode. My Kanthal collects dust since. I only use Ti and SS now. Ti brings fullest flavour (especially with tobacco such as my Halo Tribeca), but SS uses lower wattage setting and flavour is still good. And no need to build special coils, just something 28 ga with 5 - 7 wraps will do, depending which ohm you want to get. I do not recommend lesser than 0.3 ohm with the eVic VTC Mini though it allows to. PS, keep in mind I am as well still relatively new to these things.

Please report back how your Nichrome is doing. I never used it.

    @peter-k
I don't think it was nicrome.. My eVic keep jumping back to power mode after 2 puffs..
    (0.4mm) 7/8 wraps 2.5 ID 0.34 ohm..

One other thing about my Evic mod, when I change to my subtank. it asks me of its a new coil. But when I re-coiled my OBS it didn't ask if it was a new coil. But every time I change to my subtank, it remembers it at 0.64, then I made a new coil at 0.67 ohm and it remembered the old coil. This onley happens with my sub tank mini. my OBS is 0.34

I can't use the TC at my subtank either. It jumps back to power mode. So this wire has to be Kanthal

    Bought it from this guy:

    Nichrome Wire Resistance Nickel Chrome 80 20 Heating 12 to 38 AWG 0 1 2mm Ezxx | eBay

That would be entirely normal...you can't use Nichrome (or Kanthal) for TC.

Right. And also below about 0.3 my eVic does not work reliably always. I get best results above 0.4 ohm, even it can lower.

    Try TCR.

So I would need a wire that's pure nickel to run it in VT-NI TC mode, and not nichrome?
    **Updated**
    Lost in translation. Whats TCR?

EDIT: Got it. That didnt work also. Think i need PURE NICKEL. TI or SS then..
    **Updated**
Bypass mode works great :very good: LOL

According to the Joyetech site, you would need to use coils of Ni200 or Titanium for TC mode. Not sure if SS would work as well. :)

If you did not do this yet, then upgrade your device to firmware version 3. This version offers TCR.

It means you can use any material from which you have the TCR value. That's the mode which also does not jump back to power mode.

Personally I don't bother using nickel on my eVic mini.
I use Ss316L with TCR 92, and Ti with 350. It depends on the wire gauge used a little, too

IF I were going to delve into TC/TL mode, I'd use either Ti or SS...Ni200 is such a PIA to work with!

There's a very good discussion on the update & TCR settings in this thread: Evic VTC Mini Version 3.0 Update with TCR and Specific SS316 | Thailand Vapers

I did the 3.0 firmware upgrade..tried it in TCR as well and it jumped back to power mode. Tried it on both of my tanks. Both are nicrome coils

Yep, they'll only work in VW or Bypass modes...
