Don't get me wrong, I think this is a solid device and it will vape really well. Just not quite as transcendent as I was thinking it would be. If not for the enclosure (as reviewed by PBusardo) it might have been because the evolv board looks great. It's not so much that I'm disappointed because I'm not in the market for a device like this right now. There was just so much hype around this device, billed as the "Provari killer", and it's clear to me that it's not near at that level in its current form. If Innokin addresses the issues raised by PBusardo in their next iteration it will be a homerun. And being that most of the issues are cosmetic I think that they could keep it around the same price point.

That's right, then it could be the ProVari killer
It has the chip set but it's the rest of it which lets it down,..

I don't think anyone every thought the SVD would be a provari killer but there is a very strong chance the the next MVP could be. that's a big if though as Innokin seems to be taking a different tact than I thought they would.

I doubt it will be anything even close to a Provari killer or a home-run, even with all of the issues addressed. Then again what constitutes a home-run? OK, yes, maybe ultimately so in the eyes of Innokin themselves when looking at revenue vs R&D and production costs. There are just so many decent options out there nowadays and I think this thing is really ugly. I know it's subjective but I really think the design itself is going to turn a lot of vapors away from it.

I forgot to account for Innokin's B&M presence so there's going to be a lot of these sitting in glass display cases.....maybe it'll sell better than I think it will.

I would be surprise to hear Innokin saying they are actually trying to beat Provari.

Do they actually need it ? I doubt. The first SVD was a huge success and made a name by targeting the beginners. It was affordable, easy, simple to use and scratch proof somehow.

The Provari is targetting another kind of vapers, those with more experience, willing to pay a higher price because they know exactly the Provari will suits their need. Provari owners keep praising their mod while SVD owner usually stop claiming how great it is once they move up in category.

Agree that this V2 is not well proportioned but if, like the forst SVD, it is targeting beginners willing to upgrade from an ego, I think it will still be very successful.

Yeah, I don't see Provari and iTaste's even in the same class. Provari's are the Rolls Royce of vaping, what they do they do extremely well. Innokin makes the Hondas of vaping, a work horse that gives you great bang for your buck. I think this SVD is exactly what it needs to be, a reliable, giant garish beast of a mod. Great for a cup holder, not so much for the pocket. Everybody called the first one their "light saber", this is no different. What I expect to really be impressed with is the MVP and iTaste VV. The MVP has always been a great beginner box mod, and you have to love the fact that it can charge your phone as well. The iTaste VV, that is where the real magic will happen. That is the form factor everyone wants at first, and I want to see it able to hit 15 watts with temperature protection. Leave the TP non-adjustable set at around 400-420F so juice will never burn, cut the display size in half so it just shows resistance and wattage. Keep the price at around $40, that right there will be the magic. Pair it with a nickel Aspire Mini BVC, that will be the starter kit to buy for all new vapers.

An iTaste VV with temp protection, that would be a nice development.

That would be a superb solution.

Oh and how about the ELeaf Istick? I've read a lot of good things about that. If I had a friend starting up now, that would probably be a good recommendation.

The eLeaf seems great for the price, while I don't like the fact that it uses mean voltage instead of RMS (it'll confuse people when they try another mod and the same wattage setting seems much less powerful) I think it makes a great beginners mod. I still think the skinny little stick seems to be the way beginners want to go though. For women in particular from my experience. Personally, I love the form factor.
