It doesn’t matter why or for how long you are here illegal is illegal. However I have never had a problem in transit. Even using a vape pen in the smoking rooms in departures. You sometimes see airport staff vaping there too. But never throwing clouds around. Stealth is the key my friend.

Are you entering, exiting or just transiting from one int'l flight to another int'l flight? If you stay outside of Thailand (i.e., in transit without having to clear inbound Customs), you'll probably be fine.

But the advice from @Jazz2017 is spot on...stealth is the order of the day in this country. And I'd suggest carrying as little as possible with you in the way of vape gear. The bulk should be placed in your checked luggage but no batteries of any type, including mods w/integral batteries & power banks.

If you read through this thread from here backwards, there are lots of tips for transiting Thai airports.

Interesting report on Trip Advisor here: My recent experience of using e cigarettes in Thailand. - Thailand Forum - TripAdvisor

Extremely foolhardy IMO to do what the poster did given the availability of information, the great weight of which would confirm it was a very bad idea to do as they did (good luck with showing your email from TAT, and even that came from someone who had no idea and was later quickly refuted) when the BIB are turning you over. That said, given the amount of public vaping they did in the number of places they did it, and with the regularity they seemingly did it (an reckless though it was) it does make you wonder if there has been any instruction given to the BIB to back off some. Then again of course, the poster could have just got lucky, very very lucky and used up 8 or her nine lives.

I've not seen any reports of folks having problems recently either, then again, that could just as well be because word has got around and about people being sensibly cautious rather than any relaxing of the draconian measures here.

Yes, nothing has changed due to the continued influence of the Thai Tobacco Monopoly and a certain doctor who fronts for ASH Thailand. :(

Be very discreet when taking your gear out in public.

Two chums of mine got bagged in Pattaya yesterday. This was by Immigration police who were in the area checking on other things, called into a cafe and asked for IDs, all done and just about out the door THEN they saw the vapes. 30K each. All gear confiscated too.

While they were messing around at Immigration, another buddy of theirs called one of the senior bosses, he was talking about a new law (how right that is I've no idea), said if it was a Thai, 2 weeks in jail, if it's a farang, deportation. So, no let up at all it seems, at least not yet. And if there has been a change in the law to make it slightly less draconian, there is still the threat of deportation for farangs (and the associated leverage on the fines front). Of course, as usual, might have been no change at all, might just be making it up as they go along.

Why didn't the vape gear "disappear" when the BiB showed up...didn't these guys know the score here? A nice contribution to the BiB Benevolent Fund & a couple of cops are now sporting new vape setups! :(

Not sure of the exact circs. I have a feeling they weren't at the table and got collared before they could get back to it. It seems the BIB were on their way out then one of them spotted it '$$$$$$$$$$' in big neon lights (as good as). The place in question had always been a safe haven, relatively, so the guard was down I guess. The cafe owner has now reluctantly banned the use of vapes there too, the BIB told him that if they decided to make a REAL big deal out of it, 500K fine for the establishment.

I thought at one stage there might be some light at the end of the tunnel. Nothing has changed at all though it seems, not much news from the Thai forums either. Any changes I guess will be a very long way down the line, years, not weeks or even months.

Well, on behalf of Thai advocates, we've doing everything we can. Yesterday was the World No Smoking Day and lots and lots of our friends went in to comment on govt & pm's official fb to ask for legalize baling.
    should make some ripples.
Also, I've personally met with some ministers and high power people, yes ... seems the source came from Ministers of Public Health who, as we know, care not about public health but their own pockets.
    Difficult? yes .... impossible? no

Shared SooKee's original post with our "Dark Knight" aka "Ace Vaper"... hopefully things will change for the better soon.

Whenever I'm vaping outdoors, I always keep my guard up, and my mod down. At the slightest smell of the BiB, I'll put the mod straight into my pocket and pretend whatever remaining clouds were just from me passing gas.

That said, remain stealthy and be safe. Don't leave your gear in the open.

Fortunate to have folks such as yourself working so hard to legalise something that offers people a means to get off cigarettes. Wish you all the best in your efforts, fingers crossed change will come.
    **Updated**
Sad to say I don't even risk it outdoors here in BKK. Hard to have your eyes everywhere, plus quite a lot of plain clothes cops around in BKK so I'm told (drugs etc).

One buddy of mine has a safe deposit box here, when he orders stuff like wires / cotton from China, he even stashes all but one mod / tank / juice bottle in the box until the delivery arrives, just in case a seizure results in a knock at the door. Taking "better safe than sorry" to the extreme I suspect but you never know. That said, I've heard of no raids on consumer dwellings as yet. I wonder what records they keep if they seize stuff? Or if they just trash (or keep) it? I guess if you ordered too much and too much gets seized they could put you down as an importer. I guess it's easy to get way over paranoid when the penalties are so severe.

I'm awaiting 5 packages now, most around $7-10, split by FT in light of expected shipping dates, but supposedly in plain packages. We'll see what arrives. I ordered some coils from FT which they told me shipped by air mail (but not registered) on 2/5. No sign yet. Maybe an error their end. Maybe it shipped by surface. they said it should arrive in 30 days (assuming they DID use air mail). If that's the case, looks like it's been nabbed.
