Commonly referred to as e-cigarettes, vaping is really about the use of personal vaporizers (mods) and atomizers (tanks, clearos, RBAs, RDAs, RTAs) filled with e-liquid.

I've had some rayon in the vape drawer for a while now and haven't really tried it. Am I right in saying that in this case more is better unlike cotton?

Yes, more is better is the case with amount inside the coil itself. More than cotton inside the coil. It should sort of 'squeek" with resistance as you pull it through but not so tight as to start pulling the coil too easily or distorting it. Too much rayon in the coil (usually where is is hard to pull through) can result in muted flavor. Rayon collpases a little when carrying juice so too little in the coil and you could have the top of the coil not being fed juice and result being a dry coil type hit. Not burning the rayon but rather the coil heating with little actual vapor.

As for wick tails, because of the amount of rayon wick in the coil the tails can be pretty big and pose a problem with pooling of juice rather than efficient transport. It doesn't hold juice like cotton but more so carries it along. Full tails can also occupy a lot of space posing challenges with placement in atty. I always reduce the size anywhere from 30% to about 70% I probably usually tend closer to 70% with my RDAs. 50% being about a happy medium for all attys. If you think 50% to 70% is too much, start with cutting away say 30% and see how that works. I do different types of cuts depending on the atty. When cutting, you want to stop the angle of your cut maybe 2mm to 3 mm or so from the outer edge of the coil. If you know approximately where the tail will bend downwards you can cut up to that point as well.

Followed up on my beauty supply shop brainstorm today. They understood what I wanted (although rayon didn't seem to ring a bell). Bought a pack, took it home, gave it the burn test, and it melted rather than burned--clearly polyester and not fit for wicking. Oh well, 100 baht poorer, a little wiser...
