I'm thinking it may be the perfect starter kit for someone just starting out...

I'll tell you what, the trigger/grip-action to fire the XCube II mod is just so really nice so if the Mini has the same, that would be cool. Felt clunky at first and a couple times I fired it unintentionally but once you are used to it, it's a dream. The Presa mod has a similar action. I think @Rick O-Shea mentioned that mod before?

Yeah, I was interested in the 40w Presa TC but with other mods on the market there didn't seem much point in me buying one.
I get the impression it's an iStick in a dress.

I had a go on the Smok Cube and agree with @Scratchy the trigger is super nice.

So nice that I am now tempted by a Smok X Cube II 160W...

The accuracy of the 160w was pretty poor according to the German Dirk Diggler but may have been addressed in firmware upgrade$

I'll look into that before making a move then. Do you know the max voltage output ?

I'm using mine mostly as a standard VV/VW mod and it's been great. I hope they smooth out and improve the temp control. It works fine, with no burning. I've been experimenting with the TCR control it has to improve the vape in TC mode. That adjustable TCR is a really nice feature to have.

I am mostly interested by it for the 100-120Watts range capacity. Still haven't dive into TC yet :/

DJLSB did a review and noted how surprised he was at its accuracy but looking at the charts he built that must have been at low to mid-high power ratings where it looks really very good. For example @.25 ohms 120 W calculated voltage should be 5.48 and it does 5.44. Excellent but falls apart in accuracy @ 160W 0.25 ohms and both 120 W and 160 W @0.5 ohms.

The inaccuracy at high power has no real bearing when doing temp control since it uses built in curves/settings that, from what I read, puts in the levels where it is quite accurate. It does not have separately controllable wattage levels in TC mode which is not a big deal if the built in settings (low, med, high, max for example) do a good job.

However, I do use it more these days in standard power mode but I'm not vaping at 120+ W. Usually at 0.3 to 0.4 ohms and no more than 80 W -where it provides nicely accurate power.

No doubt the best thing about it is the handling and looks. If they could just tweak the TI-1 temp control some more, that would be great

All the testing needs to be taken with a grain of salt. You'd be surprised at how some other popular high wattage mods fare in his testing. IPV4 (bad low to mid level accuracy), Sigelei 150 (bad high wattage accuracy) SnowWolf 200 (bad accuracy at multiple levels), Sigelei 150 TC (meh low level accuracy). Some of these arguably worse than the xcube II 160, for example the sig 150 which surprised me

Also some reviewers like this dirk diggler (funny Rick!) pbusardo, djlsb etc. can find different results from each other testing the very same devices

According to DJLSB and Dirk Diggler, very accurate in that range unless you build over .4 ohms.

The Sigelei 150 is simply giving up after 90W on a 0.15ohms build. Max out the 7.5v output anyway.

Thanks for the info @Scratchy. Looks like despite of its flwas, that Cube II is still a great powerfull box.
