    They have no shame...

Several years ago my ex's sister was gonna help to clean the apartment I'd just moved out of.
She turned up at 1pm, took the best part of an hour to get there with BKK traffic, had to eat before doing anything (of course paid by me), then after I got them started I took my daughter to Central World (5 minute walk away) and when I came back, not even two hours later, she was sitting on the sofa watching TV.
When leaving she wanted me to drive along Sukhumvit and park somewhere so she could buy tickets for her other sister. I told her I am going home and she needs to get the sky train.
After that, instead of going directly home after she bought the tickets she felt the need to come to where I lived first to tell me someone had stolen her phone from her bag on the train.

It may not be totally applicable to your situation, but Stephen Leather's Private Dancer is a must read for anyone coming here for the first time and getting involved with a Thai woman...they have a unique outlook on life, particularly with a Western male, that is completely different from anything you've ever encountered before. Forewarned is forearmed! Protect yourself, your heart and your money...they're quite adept at manipulating all 3...and usually to your detriment.

When i first came to Thailand, i very quickly fell in love with an amazing thai girl. I was young (and still am) and i opened myself 100%.

6 months later, i discovered that she has 3 "sponsors" all around the world and that her trip "to the family" was actually some kind of honey moon with a swedish sponsor.

Hopefully i've never been "rich"so she didn't take any money out of me (i mean not more that any thai girl would...).

It actually taught me very well from the beginning and i got to say that i'm really surprised how many westerners are dealing with their TG even when they are "in the game" of fun/love in LOS for a while.

Anyway, just take it easy and try to keep it slow and steady. Good luck !

Lower class Thai men have no issue with their GF's whoring themselves out every evening.
A free meal would make a pleasant, welcome change :D

If your insulted by any of these posts, don't bother asking on ThaiVisa.com or you may be doing this: :computer_2:
    :rolling laugh:

These guys are only trying to warn you of what could happen based on what they've seen or experienced. Hopefully this isn't the case with your GF. The stories of brothers turning out to be husbands and nephews/nieces turning out to be her children are true. I've seen it first-hand. Stories of being taken advantage of financially and being asked to pay for things no one would dare ask you to pay for in your home country are even more common.

But, I've seen many more relationships work out just fine too. There are some good women here. I hope you've found one.

As a Thai person, I hope you will have a good time in here!

Also, Just want to let you know that if you get taxi, make sure that the driver turn on the meter. I have seen countless foreigners (especially farang) were ripped off by taxi (does not matter where, they're everywhere). Those drivers demanded very very very expensive price (200 Baht+) for just 10 minutes trip, which should cost you only 50-60 Baht. Noted that not only Taxis that try to rip you off, but everything even a coconut juice, especially in tourists city. And 10,000 Baht for a week is A LOT (I can live a whole month with that money :very good:) since you have reasonable price place to live unless you are a heavy drinker.

For Nong Khai, I have been there a couple of times. There's not much to see in Nong Khai, you can go to the walking street near Khong River, which I think it is pretty much similar to Pattaya. Or you might want to across to Laos via Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge.

Nong Khai is a nice quiet little boarder town on the Mekong river about a one hour drive from the Udon airport. Some stuff to see would be the river walk, the IndoChina market, Sala Kaew Ku statue park, Nong Khai aquarium. Nice place to kick back and relax.

I have heard that there is a charge for farang to go to loas at the border as my friend in nong khai wanted to take me there ,thanks for the advice bird bird ,my friend has already told me about the taxis there and have seen on the news about not to argue with tuk tuk driver over fair or he jump out and become samuri ,seriously though the cab fairs are that cheap a doller or two is not a worry for me. One way to the airport is 60 dollars by taxi here ,i am only able to spend three days in nong khai but i hope to see as much as possible and with a local as a guide it should be fun.

Going to Laos by land will cost you the Laotian visa which is about 1200-1800 thb depending on your nationality.
