1. Welcome to Thailand Vapers, an English language forum for members in Thailand and the rest of Asia to talk about vaping.
Commonly referred to as e-cigarettes, vaping is really about the use of personal vaporizers (mods) and atomizers (tanks, clearos, RBAs, RDAs, RTAs) filled with e-liquid.
Are you looking to get started or an old hand at vaping? Everyone is welcome here so sign up today and talk vaping with us!

Some guidance please

Ahh my mod doesn't have a spring on the connector. It could be losing contact I guess since I've been careful not to screw it on too tight. I'll keep my eye on that.

When you say how many watts am I vaping at... My mod doesn't say... It has voltage which I can move up or down.

I'm normally vaping at 3.5 to 4.2 if I want more vape. Does this equate to wattage when I'm vaping? Lol

The spring connectors is that something I could buy which would fit my mod perhaps?

I'm 48hrs now without a cigarette and its starting to wind me up a bit. I've just changed to a new coil and so far so good although the first coil started off all fine as well.

    Fingers crossed.

Oh... In my haste to reply and perhaps being a little bad tempered I forgot to say thanks again for your help.

    You guys rock!

The only thing I need now is:

    1. Consistent performance in my vape.
    2. Some decent liquid. The ones I'm using are not very nice. I'm missing my cigs. But as each episode of craving passes without me giving in I'm starting to feel a little bit of pride in myself. Its early days yet though.

Once I get these two things sorted my life will be much easier. I'm determined not to go back to smoking this time... This time I *cannot*, will not go back to smoking.

What's the resistance of the current coil...1.8 ohms or 1.6 ohms?

Based on this, you're vaping at somewhere between 6.8 to 9.8 watts (Ohm's Law Converter). This is very low power for the Nautilus BVC coils. If you look on the side of the coil, you'll see that Aspire recommends 4.2-5.0 volts, which equates to ~10 to 14 watts. Based on my experience, this is pretty accurate. It's very possible that you're not applying enough power to vaporize all the juice that's being wicked to the coil and the rest is ending up in your mouth. Try turning up the power above 4.2 volts...my sweet spot for these coils is 4.4 to 4.7 volts (10.5-12 watts).

You should also consider getting a newer mod...one with a spring-loaded 510 connector. The Sigelei Zmax V3 was a good mod for its time but it's been surpassed by the current crop of mods...it will be a good backup.

Stick with it but don't beat yourself up if you smoke a ciggie or 2 during the day...there are other substances in the stinkies that your body craves besides nicotine...it took me a couple of weeks to be rid of those cravings. Then, it's just the nicotine and your vaporizer will supply that to you!

Thanks so much for your continued support! Your help is invaluable and much appreciated.

Which brings me to my next question. The mod I have is a little long to fit into my pocket and is easily knocked over which causes broken atomizers.

Which mod do you think would work best based on availability in Thailand? I've already been down the route of trying to import and customs have ceased them both times :(

    Thanks again in advance!

There are several depending on stock availability of Micky, Big & Tienga...if you want a tube mod, your choices are very limited right now...Big has the eGo ONE but I don't know if it's VV/VW (which you probably want). Big also has the IPV D2 and the Subox Mini Kit in stock right now...I suspect he'll be getting more of the eVic Mini VT before long. Do some reading and see what strikes your fancy.

If I had a mod I was comfortable with right now I would be quite happy to read up and make a choice. It would be fun.

But to be honest I need a decent mod that will fit into my pocket and isn't easily knocked over like this tall thin tube I have right now and I need it asap.

I feel like panic buying a new one as I really don't want to smoke again. One cig even will delay the process of my lungs repairing themselves. It's been Sunday evening since my last proper smoke and I really want to keep it that way if I can hold out.

If you know of any mod you would buy to tie you over while making a informed choice on something more permanant which would it be?

IPV D2...it's available right now. Order it today from Big and you'll have it tomorrow (or today...PM me for info). I'm presuming that you have decent 18650 batteries available for use (and a stand-alone battery charger).

I have an iStick 50 watt that has become surplus to requirements but I don't think I can get to the PO today so it wouldn't arrive until Saturday...if that's of interest to you.

    **Updated**

    Or the Subox Mini Kit...

^^^ Yep...there are better choices available but that'll work.
How old is it? How many times has it been charged?

I have 2 of these. They have probably gone through around 15-20 recharge cycles each.

Age is maybe 2 years old.

They should be ok for awhile...batteries have a finite lifespan (250-500 cycles) but yours aren't close to this. I don't know if they have a shelf life though...

Fast Tech sells batteries for good prices. Some of the better ones are the LG HE2/HE4, LG HG2 and Samsung 25r (v5 [green] is the latest). If you're charging them through the USB port in your mod, you might consider picking up a standalone charger as well.

Don't know if I posted these before:

Depends what voltage they are stored at and for how long. I'd want to know it's voltage before using it or putting it through a charge cycle if they have been left for a long period.

My current mod says it's running at its intended 3.7 volts.
