1. Welcome to Thailand Vapers, an English language forum for members in Thailand and the rest of Asia to talk about vaping.
Commonly referred to as e-cigarettes, vaping is really about the use of personal vaporizers (mods) and atomizers (tanks, clearos, RBAs, RDAs, RTAs) filled with e-liquid.

Hey a_spirit, for what it's worth, I don't bother glowing coils any longer. Can't do it with Ti anyway, but with Ni200, I just squeeze gently with tweezers or needle nose pliers until the coils are nice and touchy-like. Then, I'll just wick up the build, juice it and put it on the mod without the cap, fire and blow on it several times just to burn off the junk. Then, finish assembling the atty and tank and then blow through the drip tip several times (reverse hit) just to insure that everything is nice (I can smell it once it's good) and then vape my brains out - business as usual.

But like The Rev says: Oxidation will occur on any metal heated hot enough. That's why welders use argon as a shielding gas; to prevent burning and oxidation.

Can dry burn Ti for cleaning purposes but only at low wattage and short pulses. Definitely would not recommend contact coils with Ni200. Inaccurate temp/resistance readings is much more likely as well as hot spots etc.

About the Welders, does it mean i should fart before i vape :p

I think i´ll play with Kanthal, SS and NiChrome, they are safer right ?

I think Ti is meant to be a little better than Ni200 tbh

I should add to my previous post that while you can dry burn Ti coils, you do not want to glow them as it will create titanium oxide. I have a DNA200 setup with a "cleaning" profile for Ti using instructions I found on ECF. I lowered the recommended temp setting some and also set the pre-heat for 1 W. When I use the DNA200 to do it, I set power to 7 or 8 W. If I do the dry burn of Ti coils on a different atty, I set it to wattage mode and depending on the atty, set the wattage at 7 W initially then may slight bump it up. Then I do short duration pulses. The coils never glow but have seen the gunk on them glowing sometimes. :) Then I use a small cleaning brush I bought at FT or GB and brush the coils clean. Usually do these steps a few times over. Works really well.

    Do not dry burn Ni200!

Scratchy, it's an odd thing... With the 28g Ti, (as with all my wires) I clean the wire first with alcohol and tissue paper. With the 28g, I get all kinds of gunk coming off onto the tissue, but with the 26g, it's as clean as a whistle.

I've been researching SS as the ML has an SS setting. However, you can run SS in power mode and skip TC completely just like Kanthal without any of the concerns/cautions of Ti. But I have to admit, I do love my 26g Ti builds.

And just to make things more fun, I bored out the juice uptake holes on my SC/RDTA/V from 1mm to 2.5mm and can now run the wicking down into the actual juice well beneath the bottom side of the building deck. Man, is this the way to go if you're handy with power tools... Still no leaks, but oh, the increase in flavor - again improves exponentially.

Since you're using a Reuleaux Rx200, the info here may be relevant. I'd be interested to hear your experience of building SS coils for this mod....: thailandvapers dot com slash threads slash subox-mini-kit-vs-evic-mini-kit dot 14373 slash page-2#post-98093

I'd also add that if you're going to prime the coils, do so in TC mode and limit temperature to to a reasonable value. When you crimp, be gentle so as not to break the oxidation layer. At higher temperatures (700F), a break in the oxidation layer can cause SS316 to release hexavalent chromium, which is carcinogenic. The risk seems to be low, but it's worth taking care to avoid...
