1. Welcome to Thailand Vapers, an English language forum for members in Thailand and the rest of Asia to talk about vaping.
Commonly referred to as e-cigarettes, vaping is really about the use of personal vaporizers (mods) and atomizers (tanks, clearos, RBAs, RDAs, RTAs) filled with e-liquid.

Is this guy a rank beginner? What do you rate his chances of really sticking with it? If it's less than 50%, I'd put the eCom-C in his hands and see where it goes from there. That kit is always useful for stealth vaping...or it can be sold (I'd buy it if it was the Black one and in good condition).

It's not a bad kit but I don't think the battery is VV/VW adjustable (the Ovale is). Again, if you think he'll bale after a few weeks, it's a good place to start...but they're out of stock at Micky's right now.

    Avoid like the plague!

I'm a Nautilus guy...I'd start a noob with one of those and the iStick 30W (or Heatvape Defender). I think the Kanger Subtank Mini is for the next step up...after he understands a bit more about Ohm's law, battery safety, etc.

Ive tried EVODs with new vapers before, in fact I sold them for a while and taught people how to recoil and wick them, they are good and cheep which Is why I would still recomend them for anyone thats on a tight buget. If there not, and even if they where my first recomendation would be the IStick30 and the Kanger Mini. For some people the buying of replaceable coils is expensive, the kanger gives you many options, for a friend I would give them 3 OCC heads and tell them to return them to me for wicking and coiling and then slowly teach them how to do it. I think both the RBA deck and the OCC coils are easier to rebuild than others.

It's a good easy to use starting device, easy to carry and has a nice look. I bought one here for 1500B:
    Products | Joyetech™ บุหรี่ไฟฟ้าพรีเมี่ยมอันดับ 1 แบรนด์ดังระดับโลก E-Cigarette Changeable System

The heads are a bit expensive so I stocked up at HeavenGifts when they were 20% off. Can currently get them 15% off with the coupon code. Joyetech eCom/eMode C2 Atomizer Head 5pcs, eGo-C, eGo-CC

I also think the E-roll is a great device for transitioning from cigarettes. Also at 1500B. http://www.mistercigstore.com/store/product/view/บุหรี่ไฟฟ้า_Joyetech_eRoll-23967063-th.html Lots of youtube reviews on the e-roll if interested.

Here I don't agree with some of you.
As good as the Kanger SUBTANKs are – I don’t think they're a first choice for beginners.

The whole setup aims to huge vapor production (yes, flavor production is good as well).
They mainly shine with direct lung inhales – something a typical smoker isn't looking for (and no, outstanding flavor isn’t a primary issue either). Remember the nasty taste of a stinky?

What IMO works best, is a vaping experience that comes as close to a cig as possible – well, at least in the beginning. This would include a rather tight draw from the clearo. I just don’t get this with the Kanger mini – even with the long air slot almost closed and a more narrowly drip tip. When I tune it like this, the vapor gets to intense and warm (at least for me).

I think the large atomizer heads – with big air holes all around the base and a wide opening on top – are just depending on a decent amount of air flow to work properly. (In that aspect the 0.5 and 1.2 ohm heads are identical).

For a beginner I would still recommend something like Aspire Nautilus or Kanger Aerotank.
They don’t produce large clouds but deliver nicotine just well ;)
Airflow is truly adjustable from »kind of tight« to »fairly airy«.

The new Joyetech eGo ONE might also be a good starter kit but I have no experience with it.
The Atomizer comes with two different heads to choose from (0.5 / 1.0 ohms).
What makes further sense: different air hole sizes (3.5 / 1.8 mm) for a looser / tighter draw.

I also don’t see the necessity in buying a setup right from the start that fits all needs from beginner to advanced. Even if I wouldn't use my »starter kit« anymore after a while… What a great investment if it worked in the first place and kept me away from stinkys!

Agree with SD. I think the Nauti on an Istick 30 w is better for a rank beginner and the next step up a Subtank.

BTW, I am beginning to believe that for flavor, the Delta II is better than the Subtank. Stock coils that is. Cons on the Delta II is the somewhat narrow fill area, a little more difficult to see juice level and the smaller capacity compared to the Subtank mini. Otherwise on flavor, do believe it has the Subtank series as a whole beat by a small amount. It also has a classier look to it as well though I do like the Subtank look.

If the person has had some time vaping on anything approaching a nautilus and they are looking for a step up then definitely the Subtank or DeltaII

A new thread has been created in Members Only for 'Unusual Drip Tips.'

Let's keep this thread on topic...it's a good reference thread for beginning vapers.

If he can afford it I would go for a decent regulate mod (ie istick) over one of the smaller beginner batteries.

    My reasoning is:
    1. If it's an inferior battery, possibly with a short battery life, it may discourage them
    and
    2. If they do like it, it will be an extra 1000B or whatever wasted on the first beginner battery that isn't necessary

Something he can be comfortable with, and with at least a good 1500mah or so I think should be great for a beginner.

Start him with an MVP 20 watt and a nautilus mini...both cheap and both dependable and easy to get rid of if it's not for him.
