Changed my mind because of juice consumption. I now want to build between 0.8-0.9ohm coils.

Any recommendation on what gauge (in mm please) Kanthal A1 wire to use , how many wraps and what diameter?

26ga 3mm 6 wraps would probably be around there, there is a site called steamengine which would give you a ball park figure

    15357.jpg Missing insulation ring.

    Hi Guys,

Just wanna let you guys know to be careful when washing up the subtank mini base. There is an insulation ring that pops off quite easily and its white in colour. Therefore, it can be easily missed and like me. Now I have a useless base becuase of it. The reading of resistance will be all over the place and very unpredictable.

They do not provide spares for this and Big does not have it either. I checked with him already.

If anyone have this ring as a spare somehow. Do let me know. But this is just to let everyone know to be careful about this.

I think you'll find that the little white O-Ring is meant to be on the coil head...the reason I know this is because a friend changed the coil and it stopped working...the O-Ring had stuck to the base and when she put the new coil on the O-Ring was forced down onto the base and insulated the coil from the base.

    I think Neilly is correct.

Good to know. Must be something with the tolerances on the subox/subtank base that eats orings. Although i believe I checked on my coil heads and the oring was on there. I tested all of the coil heads and rba with my subtank NANO and they work. However my new white subtank does not work. Almost always reads 9.9ohm or if i jiggle a bit it will read some wacky ohm. Any rate, I ordered new cloned bases from fastech. btw someone posted on youtube with the reading error on the white subtank.

on a side note, I am getting a very consistant vape with the subox mod. 2 weeks now, no dry hits once the watts are dialed in. I recall periodically getting dry hits with the istick50w.

What happened was that she stuck 50w thru the 1.5ohm coil and it got a tad warm to say the least...this then caused the o-ring from the coil to stick to the base...when she then screwed the new coil on to the base there were two o-rings on there and this screwed to the connection between the coil and the base.

When I tested the coil with a multi meter I got 0.5ohm...as soon as I screwed the base onto the mod I got 'No Atomiser' warning.

Dry Hits are good for you.

It's the vaping way of telling you that you've done something STOOOOPID.

We've all had them and made stupid faces while burning lung tissue.

ANd the worst is making that face just after telling a smoker or someone how great vaping is.

I was asked by a pipe smoking friend the other day if I really enjoyed vaping as opposed to smoking fags. I gave him a suck on my Deadly sin and that answered that question.

Ok. Does that mean that the base should not have that insulator ring in the first place? That the ring actually beongs to the coil heads?

Is there such a thing as a bad base? Mine base on No1 pic earlier without that insulator ring gives off all kinds of high ohms readings.

Yes it means that there should not be an o-ring on the base. Check your coil head and make sure there aren't two o-rings on it.

Ok. If that is the case, than most likely I have a bad base. I have tried using a RBA which reads properly at about 1 ohm on my ohm meter but when i place it on the No1 base (no ring), the ohm reads like 3 or 2 or 4 or some shit. Even reads like 2.3 or somthing on a 0.5ohm OCC.

I used to get some crazy readings from my Subtank Mini base when I had the OCC Ni200 coils fitted...apparently, the bottom of the coil doesn't always make good contact with the 510 connector in the Mini base. I was forever fiddling with mine...cleaning, etc. In the end, I finally gave up and switched to 1.2 ohm coils, which seem to read fine.
