Agree 100%...the new BVC coils are fantastic in the full-size Nautilus. I prefer it to the N-mini with these new coils.
    :very good:

Besides the 5 ml capacity (which I really like), I have to open the N-Mini up to the 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] largest air hole to get the same draw I get with the Nautilus on the 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] largest air hole. I've always liked the Nautilus...now, it's even better!

me too Scratchy ... I put my first BVC in my ol' Nautilus (big) and it just came back to life for me big time (15w on my Hana DNA) - used that BVC for over 8 days and thought I should drop a new one in ... vaped ok for a few times then just sorta 'popped' and started spitting juice.
So, I put the first one back in and it just continued to produce excellent vapes for about another week or more ... only just put in my third one today ...

will get my BDC re-build kit I ordered from UK soon I hope, and give that a go ...

    - - - Updated - - -

just checked - I put that first BVC in on Aug 9th - so I got 13 gooood vaping days out of it !

(at the same time I have been using my trusty ol' KF 3.1 and a dripper as well, each day)

Oil, I'd like to hear of a successful rebuild of these coils too. Strange that the vid you posted on a detailed rebuild was "a fail." It looked pretty good to me and I'm not sure why it wasn't successful. Maybe it just needs the right cotton or wadding? :chinrub:

Glad to hear it, Oil...I think you'll be pleasantly surprised! As for rebuilding, I haven't seen a successful rebuild of the BVC coil, but I've tried the rebuild kit from Vapenquit for the original BDC coils and it rocks...very close to the new BVC coil and pretty easy to do (so it seems...haven't tried yet). Check out this thread: Nautilus Re-buildable Coil.
You may not even need the kit...Filmcavity did a rebuild without it.

Patts, the new BVC coils use a ceramic wadding...it crumbled on him right at the end of the video and he bagged it.

You're right SD but on the last page of that read Oil posted this vid which was a detailed slide-show rebuild of the actual BVC coil. It looked good but the guy said it was a fail in the end.

Ya got me, Patts...was thinking of the PBusardo video when I replied. I remember watching that slide show...quite enjoyed the commentary...funny stuff. I think that trying to replace the ceramic wadding with cotton in the small space available is the difficult part...our fingers are just too big.

Well Mash, I guess you know that I won the Chaddo's cotton giveaway which V kindly mailed to me. I used it to wick all my Kayfuns and it was so easy to just cut a slice and slip it into the coils, they fluffed up nicely too.

With regular cotton the first few puffs give off a funny taste before flavor the comes through but with Chaddo's cotton there is none of that, great flavor from the first vape. The flavor is definitely enhanced with this Japanese cotton and it just has a more cleaner taste to it too.

But these 5 little pads go for around $8.00 which is a bit rich I think. However, I found a fairly good substitute for Chaddo's cotton on YouTube which might be worth a try. It's Shiseido cotton, cosmetic pads and here's the link:
Shiseido Cotton wick for rebuildable attys. - YouTube

I think I'll go down to Central Festival and check out the Shiseido counter this week.

On the forum one has said to get cotton from Watson's. Here is a picture [IMG]
it has no taste no bleach and looks brownish. The only taste I get is a dry burn, but juice it up again and flavour comes. All the other ones I may have tried only ambulance brand they seemed to have a sting smell that was always not amusing.

Yes, this is the one I have referred to in the past.....it's good stuff. Not as good for me as Rayon but definitely better than any other variety of cotton I have tried.

    - - - Updated - - -

A tip for anyone using the Rayon - in the past I have recommended, based on input from many folks in the long ECF rayon thread and my own experience to use more of it than you would cotton...basically making sure the coil is packed tightly because of rayon's tendency to collapse when saturated rather than expand like cotton. That recommendation I think is still very good but in regards to another where I mentioned cutting back the wick tails, while it does seem to improve the wicking with standard 50/50 PG/VG juices, it may not perform well with higher VG type juices in Kayfun-like atomizers.

I have a Russian 91% that kept dry hitting and needing primer pulls to keep saturated with a heavy VG juice. After much experimentation with cutting/thinning the wick tails both more and less than I am used to doing, I found the dry hits disappeared since keeping the wick tails full...except thinned at extreme end corners to make sure they are not too wide across the deck. I still only drape the tails straight down and do not lay them across and along the deck as that may be just too much and hurting the wicking action.

Finally, for drippers with shallow juice wells, it may be better to not so aggressively cut back the tails so as to minimize flooding and actually increase juice capacity some.

    Hope this is helpful.
