1. Welcome to Thailand Vapers, an English language forum for members in Thailand and the rest of Asia to talk about vaping.
Commonly referred to as e-cigarettes, vaping is really about the use of personal vaporizers (mods) and atomizers (tanks, clearos, RBAs, RDAs, RTAs) filled with e-liquid.

I had both carry on and and checked luggage with juices and mods. I didn't have any problems at all.

So I too am traveling to Thailand from USA this summer. I'm thinking of the following, please advise if this is okay. Thx.
    • So batteries in carryon. Six 18650, in 3 plastic battery boxes of 2.
    • 2 new box mods for my sisters, they'll be in new unopened box in checked luggage, that's okay right ?
    • own supply of juice, say 5-6 of 30 ml bottles in checked luggage
And do you think I can also bring an eVic VTC Mini in my carryon ? I was hoping I can vape in Narita airport.
or Should I not risk it. Please advise. Thx.

Sounds fine to me. Judging by my own experience and reports on this forum you should be 99% assured you will have no problem.

Personally I always worry that I'll be in the 1% that gets screened and hassled. So when traveling I carry older gear that I wont shed a tear over if it gets confiscated, and have a plan to buy new stuff at my destination if need be.

I always carry a mod and some juice in my carry-on (I'd feel naked without it)!:peep:
Plus, what if they loose your checked luggage?

    Have a good trip!:cheers2:

I have seen a few comments on the American review channels, apparently the TSA has banned all vaping gear from checked luggage, any found is apparently confiscated and destroyed. Carry on is fine.

    @Koki

If you know where your staying. You could always order juice before you leave home from a local vendor that accepts PayPal or CCard. That way it would arrive at your destination at a similar time to you.

If you bring juice, the only bottle that leaks less than a full bottle is an empty one. If you pack a half full bottle it may well be empty when you get there. I top the bottles right up so there is no air in them and they don't leak.

My feeling is that as long as the mods in your checked luggage don't have a battery in them, the TSA will probably leave them alone. Unless they physically open the bag, a box mod or tube without a battery could be just about anything.

If you're bringing box mods for your sisters that include integral batteries, you'll need to have them in your carry on luggage. :)

Yikes. I'm bringing Innokin's Cool Fire IV TC100, I believe it has internal 3300mAh Battery. 2 of them, one for each sister.
I thought checked luggage would be safer. Oh well. Carry on, it is then.
Is it better to be in unopenbox or take them out of the box and break them out in pieces ? Thx

I would put just the mods in your carry-on bag...put the boxes in your checked luggage. ;)

    I use one of these when I'm traveling...6 x 18650 will just fit. ;)

The battery removed AND the tank, it will appear on their screen as any electronic device. No questions, no frustrations . . . so far.

To the OP….if you haven't been to thailand before, I wouldn't vape in public or at a bar just yet….thais are very creative when the opportunity to make money presents itself….there are dope dealers who sell you gear, then tip off the cops and then split the huge "fine".

The only advice is dis-assemble your kit as much as possible….a tank when broken up looks like nothing recognisable but fully assembled with drip tip, it's quite unmistakable.

We are a foreigner and whatever we do we are first seen guilty, fined, etc. "You are rich you can pay" is the mentality. The creativity Asian people can develop to extract money sometimes still amazes me. If only 50 % of that would be available at work.
That applies to everywhere in Asia including Singapore. Don't ever assume the reliable and predictable police practices that exists in the home country.

Hi all been a while since i posted here but have been lurking in the background looking for some info on travelling through singapore about confiscation of vape gear ,recently i was at my local vape shop and talking about my trip there to thailand and the subject came up about someone going through changi and haveing all the gear taken away .
Now when it travelled through in june 2015 i was carrying my old nautilus tanks and 3 packs of coils and i was snavelled as i arrived in changi as they thought the coils looked like bullets so in front of all the disembarking passengers i was given the royal frisk and pat down and then an inspection of my carry on and then on your way .
I havent been able to catch up with this person so i will ask here has anyone recently had there gear taken whilst transiting through singapore airport ,i have a feeling there is more to this story and it may have happened as he passed border control into singapore itself but until i speak with them i wont really know the whole story .

If you're just going to be transiting Chiangi, you could put everything (except for batteries and/or mods with integral batteries) in your checked luggage. Now, I only carry a Joyetech Aio when I travel along with an 18650 flashlight (torch) and my spare 18650 batteries...everything else goes in checked luggage, which gets plastic-wrapped to protect it from sticky-fingered baggage handlers. :)

FWIW, I was in Singapore last December...traveled with an iTaste VV V3 & an Aspire ET-S tank (since switched to an Aio) and my flashlight/spare 18650 batteries. I had no trouble clearing security when I boarded the plane back to Thailand.

Mod, coils, e-liquid, tank, all into check-in, spread into the suitcase over several places. Electrical together with other electrical, liquid with other liquids. Batteries don't cause a problem in hand luggage and best in a plastic case. Don't vape in the airport, bring only what you need. If caught apologise profoundly and say you thought private use is ok.
